Where can I get a mortgage from?

There are many reputable lenders out there that you can approach for a mortgage. You could go to the bank that you hold your current account with, you could go to any bank or building society on the high street or you could contact an internet lender.

There are lots of options available, but to ensure you are getting the best deal, it is a good idea to compare the different products available. This can be very time consuming given that there are in excess of 80 lenders and over 12,000 mortgage products out there. You could visit a comparison website which may compare some of the products (see our article on “Should I use a comparison website when looking for a mortgage?”) or you could speak to a mortgage broker who will have access to most if not all lenders and will assess your needs and circumstances. A reputable mortgage broker should have a good idea of which lender will best suit your requirements.
